Matthew and Sean

“Matthew and Sean share a close relationship and will actively seek each other out. We are looking for an adoptive family where Matthew and Sean can be placed together”Matthew And Sean

Initial involvement with the family began in 2008 after concerns were raised regarding issues of domestic violence and substance misuse. The children became looked after in December 2011 and their plan for adoption has now been approved by court.

Since moving to their carers they have made good progress and have formed a close attachment.

Sean (5) is an adorable little boy with a great sense of humour. He loves Thomas the Tank engine and has numerous engines. Sean gets a lot of enjoyment out of playing with his trains; he will become excited when seeing trains or pictures of trains. He likes to watch Thomas the Tank engine on television. Sean also likes to play with his cars, doing puzzles, colouring, drawing and playing around in the garden. He loves days out, such as activity farms and the zoo.

Sean can be quiet, shy and a little reserved, especially around new people. When relaxed and comfortable with people he knows, he is more outgoing and affectionate and loves to give and receive hugs and kisses.

Sean likes to wear certain clothes and insists on wearing blue pants and socks, also he will only drink blackcurrant juice which has to be in a blue beaker.

Sean receives 15 hours per week of one-one support within school. His teachers report that he has benefited greatly from these sessions. He is still delayed in most areas of learning due to his speech and language, but he is making good progress. Sean has drooping of the right eye and bilateral long sight and needs to wear glasses to correct this.

Matthew (4) loves Ben 10 and has numerous action figures. He especially likes Buzz Light Year and will spend long periods of time engaging in imaginary play. Matthew also likes to do puzzles and enjoys showing off his achievements. He enjoys reading books and likes to watch Ben 10 and Nemo on television. Matthew loves being active. He likes to play in the garden on his scooter and bounce on the trampoline. He also enjoys going to parks and playing on the swings and slides.

Matthew is currently receiving support for his speech and language. His speech has come on a lot, and is now clearer and his vocabulary is expanding. His carer feels the support could end soon as he has come on so much.

Their carers say: “The whole family have fallen in love with Sean and Matthew. They are adorable and will be a lovely addition to a family. The positives and rewards well outweigh the work and any challenges”.
